Just One Candle
God gives each newborn a candle
Then lights it and blesses the flame
That flame is bright, strong and enduring
It will provide light throughout life’s game
As one goes through life we choose partners
Those two candles gain strength and light
The combined light allows us to see farther
Like a torch burning on a dark night
As the Family grows the light becomes brighter
Reaching out so others may see
A Beacon for all to follow
A Lighthouse on a stormy sea.
Today one candle flickered
Struggled bravely, to keep up the fight
We all looked on, feeling helpless
As that one candle gave up its light.
We are overcome with sadness
Tears flow as we mourn for him
The loss of Just One Candle
Caused our bright world to turn so dim.
Now, we all must join together
Comfort and protect each remaining flame
And vow to make our light brighter
In his honor and in his name.
